Preparations Begin for Mandia Divas 2025
Bhubaneswar, 6 Sept 2025 — A high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo was held at Lok Seva Bhawan to kick off preparations for Mandia Divas 2025. Odisha, the only state to dedicate a day to millets, will celebrate Mandia Dibasa on 10th November with a two-day International Millet Symposium.
This year’s theme is “Women in Agro-Biodiversity and Heritage Conservation.” Over 400 farmers, renowned scientists including Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, and global experts from FAO, WFP, ICAR, and CIWA will participate.
Odisha continues to lead in millet production and conservation. FCI has recently lifted the ban on Finger Millets and plans to procure an additional 40,000 MT. The meeting also featured insights from Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee and senior officials who shared valuable suggestions for the upcoming event.
