Godrej Agrovet expands product portfolio

Godrej Agrovet Expands Product Portfolio to Deepen Crop Coverage and Support Growth Recovery. Godrej Agrovet Limited, a leading Indian agri-business company, announced a strategic expansion of its product portfolio in the crop protection segment as it seeks to revive growth amid a prolonged industry slowdown. The move comes as demand in the agrochemical space has weakened due to erratic weather patterns, delayed sowing and lower farm incomes, impacting overall product uptake.

Under the plan, the company aims to broaden its crop coverage from around 5–6 major crops to nearly 10 by introducing new formulations and expanding existing product labels. This expansion will enable Godrej Agrovet to offer more tailored pest-management solutions across a wider range of crops including rice, maize, chickpea and soybean.

A key addition to its portfolio is TAKAI, a new insecticide powered by Cyclapryn technology (developed by Japanese partner Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd), which delivers extended protection against major lepidopteran pests such as stem borer and leaf folder in rice and other crops. While the product already has label approvals for several crops, Godrej Agrovet is awaiting regulatory approvals for use in cabbage and chilli.

The company also continues to strengthen its pipeline with internally developed and collaborative products, such as the maize herbicide Ashitaka launched last year, and herbicides under internal R&D for crops like soybean. These innovations reflect the firm’s commitment to annual product launches backed by global partnerships and in-house research.

To support increased output, Godrej Agrovet is bringing a third manufacturing facility at Dahej, Gujarat online soon. This plant will bolster production capacity for upcoming launches and additional volumes.

Management said these portfolio enhancements are designed to position the company for a stronger performance in the forthcoming Kharif season, provided normal monsoon conditions, thereby aiding farmers with productivity-enhancing solutions across a broader crop base.
