Papaya Farming Guide 

Papaya farming is a highly profitable venture due to its fast growth and year-round demand. With proper care, farmers can start harvesting within 8–10 months.

Introduction 

– Warm tropical & subtropical climates  – Temperature: 21°C to 33°C  – Sensitive to frost and strong winds 

Climate Requirement

– Well-drained sandy loam soil is ideal  – pH level: 6.0 to 7.5  – Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot

Soil Requirements 

– Red Lady  – Pusa Delicious  – Pusa Nanha (dwarf variety)  – Coorg Honey Dew

Popular Varieties 

– Plough the field 2–3 times  – Remove weeds and stones  – Add organic manure (FYM or compost)  – Prepare pits (45x45x45 cm)

– Use healthy seedlings (4–6 weeks old)  – Spacing: 1.8 x 1.8 meters  – Best planting time: June–July or February–March
