Introduction 

Lady’s finger (okra) is a fast-growing vegetable crop. It is widely grown in summer and rainy seasons. Perfect for beginners and small farmers!

Climate Requirement  

Warm climate is best  Ideal temperature: 25–35°C  Cannot tolerate frost  Needs plenty of sunlight 

Soil Preparation   

 Well-drained loamy soil is ideal   pH level: 6.0–7.5  Add compost or organic manure  Plough soil well before sowing 

Seed Selection    

Choose high-quality hybrid seeds   Soak seeds in water for 810 hours  This improves germination rate 

Sowing Method     

Sow seeds directly in the field   Spacing: 30 cm between plants   Row spacing: 45–60 cm   Depth: 2–3 cm

Watering   

 Water immediately after sowing  Maintain moderate moisture  Avoid waterlogging  Irrigate every 5–7 day

Fertilizer Use 

– Use organic compost or vermicompost  – Add nitrogen fertilizer for growth  – Apply fertilizers in split doses 

Pest & Disease Control  

Common pests: aphids, fruit borers   Use neem oil spray   Keep field clean and weed-free

Harvesting   

– Ready in 45–60 days  – Harvest when pods are tender  – Pick every 2–3 days for best yield

– High yield crop with good demand  – Suitable for small-scale farming  – Can generate steady income
