Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to Visit Flood-Affected Areas in Punjab

Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmersโ€™ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has decided to visit the flood-affected areas in Punjab to assess the ground reality and the situation of farmers in the state due to the heavy rains and widespread flooding.

Before he went to visit, he discussed the details of the damage and the immediate needs of the affected communities over the telephone with the Governor and Chief Minister of Punjab.

Shri Chouhan is scheduled to first arrive in Amritsar in the morning, where he will meet with farmers who are impacted by the floods. The Minister will then convene a high-level meeting with officials to review the farmers’ situation and take strategic steps to provide timely assistance and relief to the affected farmers.

Last week, Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmersโ€™ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, organised a high-level meeting in New Delhi to discuss about the flood situation in Punjab. He expressed deep concern over the crop failures and their impact on livelihoods. The Minister committed to personally visiting the state to oversee relief efforts.

Reaffirming the Central Governmentโ€™s support, Shri Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture, has confirmed that the Government will ensure all necessary support to the farmers and all affected people due to floods in the affected areas. Additionally, it provides reassurance that farmers should not be concerned about this failure.
