Pakistan Signs $4 Billion Agri Deals with China, Offers Tropical Produce.

Pakistan has signed over two dozen agriculture MoUs worth more than $4 billion with China, offering to export tropical fruits, vegetables, and cereal crops. The agreements were finalised during a B2B investment conference in Beijing on Sept. 4, coinciding with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit for the SCO summit.

Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain met top Chinese agri firms, inviting investment in mechanisation, seed development, smart farming, and precision agriculture. He emphasised Pakistan’s strategic location and competitive pricing, positioning it as a key supplier to China’s $215 billion agri-import market.

China is already training 1,000 Pakistani agri graduates in advanced farming techniques, with two batches having completed or begun training in Shaanxi province.

These MoUs reflect the growing economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, including Islamabad’s plan to issue Panda Bonds in China’s capital market, as Pakistan pivots toward an export-led growth strategy.
