Uttar Pradesh Sets Bold Vision to Lead India in Agriculture by 2030, Join Global Leaders by 2047
Under the ambitious initiative โViksit UP @2047โ, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled a transformative roadmap to position Uttar Pradesh as a global powerhouse in agriculture.
The plan aims to make UP the top Indian state in crop productivity and agricultural exports by 2030, with a long-term goal of matching global agricultural leaders like the USA, France, China, and Australia by 2047.
A New Era of Agricultural Transformation
The Yogi governmentโs strategy integrates innovation, sustainability, and scientific progress across all levels of agriculture. The comprehensive roadmap is built on six foundational pillars:
- Storage and Value Addition
- Processing Infrastructure
- Sustainable Agriculture
- Research and Education
- Crop Diversification
- Modern Technology Adoption
Chief Minister Adityanath emphasised that aligning agriculture with industrial growth is key to making UP the growth engine of a developed India (Viksit Bharat). This integrated approach is designed to uplift farmer incomes and establish UP as a global benchmark in agricultural development.
Targets for 2030 and 2047
By 2030, Uttar Pradesh aims to:
- Lead the nation in crop productivity
- Become Indiaโs top state in agricultural exports
- Emerge as a hub for agri-innovation and education
By 2047, the state aims to rival or surpass countries such as Mexico, China, and Russia in agricultural advancements.
Empowering Farmers Through Infrastructure
To support this vision, UP is rapidly expanding its network of:
- Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs)
- Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS)
- Mega Food Parks
Significant investments are being made in cold chain systems, storage facilities, and food processing units to minimise post-harvest losses and enhance the value of agricultural produce.
From Challenges to Change
Before 2017, UPโs agriculture sector grappled with low productivity, inadequate storage, and minimal technological integration. Over the past eight and a half years, the Yogi government has driven a remarkable turnaroundโintroducing scientific farming methods, modernising mandis, and connecting farmers to advanced agri-infrastructure.
Building a Future-Ready Agriculture Model
With this visionary strategy, Uttar Pradesh is not only advancing kisan kalyan (farmer welfare) but also laying the foundation for a sustainable, tech-driven, and export-oriented agricultural economy.
