PM to address Post Budget
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Post-Budget Webinar on the theme “Agriculture and Rural Transformation” on 6 March 2026, outlining the government’s vision to strengthen India’s farm sector and accelerate rural economic growth. The webinar, held via video conferencing, was part of the government’s annual exercise to discuss the effective implementation of key announcements made in the Union Budget 2026–27.
The event brought together policymakers, experts, industry representatives, and farmers to deliberate on strategies for enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting rural entrepreneurship, and improving livelihoods across the countryside. More than a million stakeholders from the agriculture ecosystem participated in the discussions.
During his address, the Prime Minister emphasised the need to make Indian agriculture export-oriented and globally competitive by leveraging the country’s diverse climatic conditions and expanding high-value crop production. He highlighted crops such as cashew, coconut, sandalwood, agarwood, almonds, walnuts, and pine nuts as potential drivers of value-added agriculture.

The webinar featured eight sessions covering four key sectors—agriculture, animal husbandry and dairying, fisheries, and rural livelihoods. Discussions focused on attracting private investment in the livestock value chain, strengthening fisheries infrastructure through the development of reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars, and expanding market access for products made by rural women entrepreneurs through initiatives like SHE-Marts.
Prime Minister Modi also stressed the role of technology in transforming agriculture, including digital platforms and AI-powered infrastructure such as Bharat Vistaar. He called for coordinated efforts among governments, industry, and farmers to ensure that the benefits of the Union Budget reach the grassroots level quickly.
The webinar is part of a broader series of post-budget consultations aimed at converting policy announcements into concrete action for building a stronger and more resilient rural economy.
