agricultural products export
Addressing a post-Budget webinar on “Agriculture and Rural Transformation”, the Prime Minister said India must take advantage of its diverse agro-climatic conditions to scale up high-value agricultural production and increase exports. He noted that changing global demand patterns present a significant opportunity for Indian farmers to connect with global supply chains.
Modi highlighted that agriculture remains a strategic pillar of the Indian economy and called for coordinated efforts to improve productivity, value addition and marketing of farm products. He said promoting quality standards, branding and modern technologies in farming would help Indian produce compete effectively in international markets.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that scaling up high-value crops and encouraging crop diversification could transform the sector and significantly enhance farmers’ income. Export-oriented production, he added, would generate employment opportunities in rural areas through food processing, logistics and related industries.

Modi further emphasised the potential of allied sectors such as fisheries, animal husbandry and natural farming to contribute to export growth and rural prosperity. He urged policymakers, agricultural scientists, industry representatives and farmers to collaborate in implementing the measures announced in the Union Budget 2026-27 to build a globally competitive agricultural ecosystem.
According to the Prime Minister, strengthening India’s agri-export capacity will not only improve farmers’ livelihoods but also position the country as a key supplier in the global food market.
