In a significant boost for agricultural education, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that 20 per cent of undergraduate seats in agricultural universities will be filled through a nationwide competitive examination.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will conduct this exam, reflecting the vision of One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team.
This change enables Class 12 students with Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Agriculture to seek admission through the CUET-ICAR national entrance test .
Addressing the media, Mr Chouhan said the decision will streamline and standardise admissions for students across the country.
He added that the policy will take effect from the 2025–26 academic year.
The move is expected to eliminate admission-related hurdles for the B.Sc. Agriculture aspirants directly benefit nearly 3,000 students.
