Extract the Seed:

Eat the mango and save the seed (pit) inside.

Clean off any remaining fruit flesh from the seed.

The seed is inside a husk—make a small cut along the edge of the husk with scissors or a knife to pry it open and remove the seed inside.

Remove any papery coating from the seed if present.

Prepare the Seed for Germination:

Soak the seed in water for 24 hours to help speed up germination.

Alternatively, some use a drying method, letting the seed dry for about 3 weeks to separate the husk halves, but soaking is faster.

Germinate the Seed:

Wrap the seed in a damp paper towel (not soaking wet).

Place the wrapped seed inside a plastic bag or small sealed container with some ventilation.

Keep it in a warm, dark place for 1 to 3 weeks until it sprouts.

Plant the Seedling:

After germination, plant the seed in a pot (3-4 inches wide) with well-draining potting soil.

Plant the seed flat or pointy side down with the hump sticking about 1/4 inch out of the soil.

Water thoroughly and place the pot in a bright location with indirect sunlight (not direct sun).
